The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
